Project details

The opening act of our project laid down some crystal-clear goals for revival and renewal. Here's how we made it happen:
- Popped up a whole Urban Art Gallery with 20 mural masterpieces, sprawling over 300 sqm on the “Octav Băncilă” Overpass. Rounded up 23 artists from Iași and beyond, from famed mural painters and graffiti gods to students from the “Octav Băncilă” Art School. Their inspiration? The life and legacy of the artist himself, plus the values he vibed with, all tuned to today's social, economic, and global beats.
- Rolled out a guided tour along Iași's urban art trail. Cooked up with Iași.Travel, this lovely trip took folks through Iași's less beaten paths—“bedroom” districts, industrial areas, and the overlooked corners that got a fresh breath of life through urban art. Giant murals and tiny artistic interventions in neighbourhoods like Alexandru cel Bun, Dallas, and Păcurari (mostly our handiwork) got showcased alongside other local tourist and historic sights. Since it went down during the European Mobility Week, dozens of peeps joined in on bikes, scooters, and other eco-friendly rides.
- Threw an epic unveiling party for the Urban Art Gallery at the “Octav Băncilă” Passage. After the murals were completed, they were unveiled by the artist HarceaPacea, with Ana Octavia Preotu setting the scene with an introduction to the project. Loads of folks from the art scene, Bridge Delivery participants, and the artists behind the murals shared their visions and inspirations drawn from Octav Băncilă’s work. For some, diving into this project was a first-time hands-on learning sesh that flipped their artistic switch.

Graffiti Jam
The project's second act was literally a reflection of revitalization—“literally” because it all went down on the other end of the “Octav Băncilă” Overpass, creating a full-circle art journey. But this time, it was a massive Graffiti Jam with guests from around the country, coming in from Bucharest, Cluj, Timișoara, Oradea, Brașov, Bacău, Pașcani, Neamț, Roman, and Iași. Over three epic days, from September 23rd to 25th, 2022, the support wall of the "Painter Octav Băncilă" Overpass, right by the old cigarette factory, got a cool new paint job! Covering over 250 sqm with the genius of talented graffiti artists vibing in spontaneous sync, each powered by their own unique vision. No theme was given, but the flow between the pieces is unmistakable. It all came together and transformed a once drab, neglected grey area into a spot of colourful amazement for the random passersby and a brand new destination for enthusiasts who come here just to see it! This large-scale action took graffiti out of the neighbouring broken-down factory and the shadows of clandestine art and brought it out into the open, as the true art form it is, on the bridge walls, legally, with the massive hand of our country’s top graffiti artists.
Bridge Delivery
The project’s third and final chapter aimed to animate “Octav Băncilă” Park with an artistic and community spirit. The vibe was all about shining a spotlight on the legacy and “heirs” of painter Octav Băncilă, while also kicking the cultural scene into gear in a part of town that hadn't seen much action before. We teamed up with Street Delivery Iași for a second time in the history of the festival and cooked up a special edition, aptly named Bridge Delivery for obvious reasons.
So, from September 23 to 25, 2022, “Octav Băncilă” Park turned into a playground of activities that the crowd got into for zero LEIs: creative workshops, dance, juggling, percussion, painting, chemistry experiments, concerts, performances, interactive contemporary art, you name it! We were stoked to see over 1,000 participants and heaps of thanks from the local folks, who told us this artistic first gave them a fresh dose of optimism about the cultural life in the city's off-center neighbourhoods.
