Project details
The project Urban RegenARTation was implemented between 15 of Septeber and 15 of December 2020, in colaboration with Iasi.Travel Association and ”Elena Cuza” Middle School in Iași. It featured over 20 street artists and graffers involved 10 fire performers, 20 participants at the street art and graffiti workshop, and reached over 10,000 people from Iași as beneficiaries.
Main activities::
- Creating an identity of the Păcurari neighborhood through mural paintings totaling 420 square meters on the “Elena Cuza” School, the PTs from Canta and Păcurari, as well as the building next to the green space (October 20 - 27);
- 1 juggling performance with fire and lights in Păcurari (November 2);
- 1 event for the inauguration of the first legal wall for practice in Iași - the wall that surrounds Nicolina Beach (November 2);
- 1 beginner street art and graffiti workshop (November 2);
- Realization of the thematic route of the urban culture from Iași municipality - Urban art Map of Iași;
- 1 virtual tour on the thematic route of urban culture in Iași (December 10);
- Realization and promotion of the the online urban art map of Iasi and physical format.
Objectives
- Urban revitalization of public spaces in Păcurari and Galata neighborhoods between September 15 and October 30, 2020.
- Increasing the degree of information and awareness about community’s life and developing a civic attitude of at least 200 young people in Iasi between September 15 and December 15, 2020.
- Improving the conditions for social and professional integration of young artists in Iasi according to their needs and aspirations between September 15 and December 15, 2020.
- Promoting the thematic route of urban culture in Iași among at least 200 young people between October 30 and December 15, 2020.
Results
- Over 20 street artists and graffiti artists involved in the regeneration of Păcurari and Galata neighborhoods;
- 10 fire performers involved;
- Urban regeneration of the Păcurari neighborhood;
- 420 sqm murals in Pacurari;
- Urban regeneration of the Galata neighborhood;
- The first legal practice wall in Iași - 350 sqm at Nicolina Beach;
- 1 online street art Map in Iași;
- 500 physical copies of the urban art Map of Iași municipality;
- 1 virtual tour of the urban culture route from Iași;
- 20 young people informed about street art and graffiti, who experienced mural painting in the introductory workshop to street art and graffiti.
