Street animation is a form of participatory art that involves the use of various techniques to engage the public, spark their desire to get involved, or convey specific messages that raise questions. Street animation is an art form that reaches places where other forms cannot. You will find street animation wherever there are people, even if they are just passing by. It is a method with a strong participatory and experiential character.

Why Street Animation?

Depending on the goals of the performers or the project, street animation can serve a variety of purposes: obiective diverse:

  • it disrupts the everyday routine of people and the city
  • brings culture closer to those who may not have access to it
  • offers entertainment, makes people laugh and feel good
  • fosters social cohesion and reduces individualism
  • helps reshape the image of the city
  • promotes new forms of creation and art
  • conveys a message, educates people on a specific topic
  • raises public awareness about certain issues
  • supports an advocacy or promotional campaign 
  • provokes or shocks in order to make a point
  • can be part of a larger event, adding variety
  • attracts new people (tourists) to a place of interest
